For the purpose of this report, family dynamics will refer to certain characteristics of families and to how families can be structured; this includes the following;
The main focus of another study from Bradshaw, et al. (2006), focused on child poverty rates in larger families that contained 3 or more children, they also found that family size was an issue when it comes to household income and children in poverty: '...in 2004/5, 50 per cent of children in 4+-child families were poor compared with only 23 per cent in one-child families.'
Lone parents and multiple children can be seen as a separate type of family characteristic, but can also be found to occur together, which can likely increase the risk factors of poor educational achievement. A common understanding is that a lone parent with three or more young children is very unlikely to work due to having to support multiple children and attend to their needs on a daily basis.
From these statements discussed above, these two family types together and on a separate basis, are both clearly having an effect on household income, subsequently having an effect on the number of children found to be in poverty and effecting their potential educational achievements.
